The decision does not affect construction of the £310m ($413m) turbine blade factory in Hull, northeast England, for which the German industrial giant still wants to hire 1,000 workers.
The plant will manufacture blades for Siemens' new 7MW offshore turbine, for which the company has already received a series of orders.
But it is unclear when and under what circumstances blades from the factory can be sold to offshore projects outside British waters, a Siemens official tells Recharge, in reaction to an article in The Guardian newspaper that cites Siemens UK chief executive Jürgen Maier as saying export plans for the Hull offshore hub are now stalled.
