Siemens Wind orders surge on UK win as unit returns to black

Siemens posted a jump in orders in its wind power and renewables division during its fiscal second quarter, boosted by a €1.2bn ($1.38bn) turbine and service deal for an offshore wind project in the UK, while revenue also rose.

Orders totalled €2.14bn in the wind and renewables division in the second quarter of 2016, compared to €1.41bn in orders a year earlier. Siemens' fiscal second quarter ended on 31 March.

Iberdrola in February took a final investment decision (FID) on the 714MW East Anglia 1 project off eastern England, which Siemens said represents the largest single order yet for its 7MW offshore machine.
