Siemens Wind headquarters in Hamburg could not immediately disclose the exact current capacity of the Lingang blade plant outside Shanghai, but said the doubling is slated to be completed by the end of 2017.

The facility was originally designed for an annual output of more 600 wind turbine blades when it opened in late 2010.

The German industrial giant ended its turbine production joint ventures with Shanghai Electric last year, but said it will continue to supply blades to its former partner and license a number of onshore and offshore turbines to the Chinese power group, as Recharge had first reported.
