Siemens Gamesa said a partial patent infringement ruling in favour of rival GE Renewable Energy by the US International Trade Commission (ITC) only applies to wind turbines it no longer sells, as the Spanish-German OEM claimed a wider decision by the body supported “fair and legal competition in the American market”.

GE Renewable Energy lodged a complaint with the ITC in August 2020 that sought to block Siemens Gamesa turbines from being imported to the US citing a range of alleged patent breaches focused on low-voltage-ride-through (LVRT) and zero-voltage-ride-through (ZVRT) technologies, which protect machines from voltage fluctuations.
