Siemens Gamesa has confirmed its intention to build a $200m offshore wind blade factory in the state of Virginia that will cater to its growing pipeline of preferred turbine orders in the US.

The German-Spanish turbine maker’s first US offshore wind factory will be built at the Portsmouth Marine Terminal (PMT), where Siemens Gamesa has signed a long-term lease with the Virginia Port Authority for an 80 acre (32 hectare) site.
