Oil giant Equinor and Polish partner Polenergia have tapped OEM Siemens Gamesa to deliver almost 1.5GW of its top-of-the-line model offshore wind turbine for the giant MFW Bałtyk II and III projects in the Baltic Sea.
The preferred supplier deal for the two developments, awarded in Poland’s Contracts for Difference (CfDs) auction in May 2021, would see around 100 of the turbine marker’s SG14-236 DDs – a 14MW nameplate uptuneable to 15MW – supplied, should MFW Bałtyk II and III reach financial close as planned in 2024.
