Siemens eyes first-mover advantage in Iran with 61MW Siahpoush

In an effort to tap into new growth markets, Siemens is trying to get a first-mover advantage in the fledgling Iranian wind power market through a deal to build the 61MW first phase of the Siahpoush wind project, Siemens Wind chief executive Markus Tacke said during a presentation at its capital market day in Houston.

Siemens is in close talks with the client about the project in Iran's Qazvin province, but no financial investment decision has been taken yet, a Siemens Wind press official told Recharge.

Arian MahBaad Company, a unit of Iranian energy group Mahtaab, is planning to build the first phase of the array with 21 3MW turbines near the village of Gurkhaneh in the Tarom Sofla region.
