The deal represents something of a windfall for Dong, which in July 2009 bought the whole of A2SEA for DKr700m from its three previous principal shareholders: Clipper Project Shipping; and Danish investment groups Dansk Kapitalanlaeg and LD Invest Equity.

Siemens will shell out the money in two installments during 2010 and 2011.

Dong says the investment will allow A2SEA -- which boasts 200 employees and is headquartered in Fredericia, Denmark -- to explore the possibility of expanding its installation capacity and further optimising its existing fleet of vessels.
