The floating wind power industry should narrow its focus on advancing a short-list of foundation designs to kick-start industrialisation and further cut costs, experts from Norwegian energy major Equinor and offshore turbine manufacturer MHI Vestas said.

Speaking at the Floating Offshore Wind Turbines (FOWT) 2020 conference that this year is taking place with a small live audience in Marseille and digitally as a webcast, Sebastian Bringsværd, head of floating wind at Equinor, said his company has created its own design principles, looking at performance, fabrication friendliness, costs and mass production possibilities.
