ScottishPower’s revised plan – which includes downgrading the lines’ overall transmission capacity to 650MW from 1GW – was published after National Grid formally selected the site of a new substation and the route of the cables.

After looking at two locations – Cefn Coch and Abermule, about 20km apart in the mid-Wales county of Powys – National Grid chose the former as the site for the substation where electricity generated at future wind farms will be fed in by ScottishPower.
