Saudi engineering and construction group Alfanar has been tipped as the buyer of the Indian arm of insolvent German wind OEM Senvion.

Alfanar would manufacture turbines at Senvion’s facilities in India and ship them to equip projects in Saudi Arabia, according to the Hindu Business Line, which quoted unidentified industry sources.

Senvion’s insolvent German parent group said in April it had agreed the sale of its Indian operation to a “worldwide industrial conglomerate with strong EPC capabilities”, without identifying the buyer.
