Colombia has among the world’s best wind resources and realistically could host about 50GW of offshore wind, but would need a major upgrade of transmission lines if it is to tap into the best areas in the eastern parts of its Caribbean coastline, a draft roadmap commissioned by the World Bank Group found.

Colombia’s mines and energy ministry (MME) has asked interested parties to comment on the ‘Offshore Wind Roadmap for Colombia’ draft by February 25, 2022.
