Most of the world’s largest floating wind projects are being led by players with no offshore wind track record, claimed industry consultants who highlighted inexperience as a possible barrier to the massive global ambitions of the fast-growing sector.

Of the gigawatt-plus projects in the global floating wind pipeline, 68% are being led by developers “that do not have offshore wind experience”, according to research by Westwood, with the remainder largely led by players with only fixed-bottom deployments under their belts.
