Justin Madden, planning minister for Victoria, imposed a number of a onerous requirements on RES Australia but ultimately deemed the A$326m ($318.8m)project to be both economically and environmentally beneficial to the state.

The project will create 180 temporary jobs during construction and feed enough electricity into the grid to cover the needs of 135,000 homes.

“Community concerns about potential landscape and visual amenity and environmental impacts have been heard and appropriate conditions have been placed on the planning permits – including addressing landscape, and flora and fauna issues,” Madden says.
