The customer is Saint-Laurent Énergies, a consortium comprising RES Canada, EEN Canada and Hydroméga Services, which pinned down the five sites in a 2008 tender issued by state-run utility Hydro-Québec Distribution.
The deal could be expanded to as much as 954MW – or 477 REpower MM82/92 turbines. The turbines are scheduled to be delivered between 2011 and 2015.
Hamburg-based REpower, which is 91% owned by India’s Suzlon, says it will use the deal as a springboard for building up its local supply chain for future North American projects.
“This
