Day-ahead wholesale power prices in the Germany, Austria and Luxembourg price zone were the second lowest in Europe last year as a high share of renewables compensated for rising coal, lignite and CO2 prices, the Agora Energiewende think tank says in a report.
EPEX spot prices in the zone around Germany averaged €44.72 ($51.27) per megawatt hour, only slightly exceeding the €43.98/MWh
