This giant vessel is carrying a record rotor blade consignment from China to Europe for wind OEM Vestas on a deck larger than a football pitch.

Shipping group United Heavy Lift is using the Zhi Xian Zhi Xing to transport 156 blades for V120 turbines from the port of Dafeng to Spain.

The vessel – the largest in its class with 6,000 sq metres of loading space – is due to arrive at the Spanish port of Ferrol soon.

Zhi Xian Zhi Xing is currently carrying the largest number of rotor blades that Vestas has ever shipped in a single consignment. This is also the first time that the company has had blades transported from the Far East by deck carrier,” said United Heavy Lift.

Vestas unveiled the V120 in 2017, announcing its launch into China later that year and production at Tianjin as it targeted low and ultra-low wind sites in the country.
