Partners Sasol and Air Liquide launched what is claimed as the largest private sector renewable procurement ever staged in South Africa, as part of plans to lower the carbon footprint of a chemicals plant that has been labelled the world’s biggest single source of industrial emissions.

South African mining and chemicals giant Sasol and the French industrial gases group will procure supply from 900MW of renewables by 2030, raising an earlier goal of 600MW set by Sasol alone.
