The UK government should raise the pace of offshore wind contract-for-difference (CfD) auctions to help meet its 40GW deployment target and ease “frustrations” facing the sector, said the independent Committee on Climate Change (CCC) that advises on policy.

Julia King, Baroness Brown of Cambridge, vice-chair of the influential CCC, told Recharge that UK offshore wind had experienced “a number of frustrations lately” with projects being delayed and a development consent refused.
