The UK offshore wind industry is providing multi-million pound funding for the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to test new innovative radar technology which can distinguish between wind turbines and aircraft in a far more sophisticated way than previously, potentially opening up a significant pipeline of new offshore wind farm sites around the UK coastline.
Under a new agreement the wind industry is funding the MoD to test a series of mitigation concepts and prototype technologies, including various types of new radars.
