French transmission system operator RTE has awarded a consortium of DEME’s French unit SDI and JDR Cables an EPCI contract to lay the export cable that will link the 30MW Leucate floating offshore wind project in the Mediterranean to the mainland power grid.

The Les Eolienne Flottantes du Golfe du Lion (EFGL) consortium of the Ocean Wind joint venture (of Portuguese and French utilities EDPR and Engie) and French bank Caisse de Dépots is building Leucate as one of four French floating wind pilots that are slated to precede larger floating developments off France later this decade.
