The facility would be located about 10 miles southeast of Barbers Point in West Oahu, according to a report in the weekly Pacific Business News in Honolulu.

Progression Energy, based in Portland, Oregon, have formed a company called Progression Hawaii Offshore Wind with investors in Hawaii and “beyond” to develop the project, the report says.

Plans reportedly call for submittal of a lease application this quarter with the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), a US Interior Department agency that oversees commercial wind development beyond state territorial limits.
