Kenya’s landmark 310MW Lake Turkana wind project is expected to be connected to the national grid later this year, as, according to reports, work is advancing on the development’s power line.

The 428-km, 400-kilovolt power line is critical to transport the wind farm’s electricity from Loiyangalani in the north to Suswa in the centre of Kenya.

The construction and installation phase at Lake Turkana was completed in March, but the switch-on was delayed amid l andowners’ compensation demands and the closure of a major contractor.
