A seabed lease auction for a large Polish offshore wind zone flopped as according to the country’s infrastructure ministry “none of the applicants obtained the minimum qualification”.

Bidders for the 53.E.1 zone had included Polish units of RWE, Equinor, EDF, Shell and a subsidiary of domestic refiner PKN Orlen, according to Krzysztof Jaworski, an expert consultant on Baltic offshore wind registered with the European Commission and business development manager at consultancy Natural Power.
