Poland plans to hold offshore wind auctions only for a “second wave” of projects for wind at sea with a delivery in 2024 or 2025, while a support mechanism for a first batch of pre-developed projects is still under evaluation, a senior government official told Recharge.

“We will not arrange offshore auctions in 2019,” Andrzej Kazmierski, director for renewable and distributed energy at the Polish ministry of energy, said in an emailed statement, adding that further steps can only be announced once a maritime special plan for the Polish Baltic Sea is ready.
