“Phenomenal” Chinese expansion drove global offshore wind to a record 15.7GW of installations in 2021 and helped the sector grow by almost half last year, said industry body World Forum Offshore Wind (WFO) in its latest annual tally of the sector.

China’s developers installed 12.7GW of new wind off its shores as they raced to grab an expiring feed-in tariff before the end of the year, leaving the nation with 19.7GW in place.
