Peru contracts 411MW in first renewables tender

Peru has contracted more than 411 megawatts (MW) of power at its first renewable energies tender, with small hydro and wind energy leading the pack.

Small hydro took the cake with 17 projects totalling 161.71MW contracted at a ceiling price of $74 per megawatt hour (MWh).

Wind came in second with three projects totalling 142MW at a ceiling of $110/MWh. Solar power followed with four projects totalling 80MW at a ceiling price of $269/MWh. Finally, two biomass projects totalling 27.4MW won with a ceiling price set at $120/MWh for the energy source.
