Bureaucratic and legal challenges to the permitting process are slowing Germany’s onshore wind expansion, said industry groups as they reacted to the heavy under-subscription of the country’s latest auction for turbines on land.
At the same time, wind groups warn of yet more impediments on the horizon from initiatives by German states that could bring further damaging distance rules and end a priority status for wind power in building legislation.
