Nordic developer OX2 has handed over the first out of four subsidy-free wind farms it is building in Finland for furniture retailer IKEA.

OX2 has commissioned the 30MW Ponsivuori wind farm in Southern Ostrobothnia that features 7 Nordex turbine.

In October 2018, IKEA Finland had signed an agreement with OX2 about constructing four wind farms with a total of 25 wind turbines and a combined capacity of 107.4 MW, one of the largest subsidy-free wind power projects in the Nordics.

“IKEA is committed to being climate positive by 2030 through accelerating the transition to a low carbon economy. Our investments in clean, renewable wind power stand at the core of this ambition,” said IKEA Finland’s sustainability manager Tiina Suvanto.

The project comprises the wind farms Ponsivuori, Verhonkulma, Långmossa and Ribäcken.

OX2 will continue to manage the administration and operation of Ponsivuori wind farm. In addition to the Ponsivuori wind farm, OX2 also manage the Ajos wind farm for IKEA Finland.
