According to the firm's Latin American Outlook, the region added 4.2GW last year, reaching 14.2GW. This year, more than 4.2GW of new wind is expected.
Brazil, which added 2.6GW last year, will continue to lead the region until 2018, followed by Mexico, which contracted 396MW of new wind in this year's auction.
Adding to expectations are Argentina — which announced an auction to contract 600MW of wind this year — and Colombia, which is linking La Guajira peninsula to allow it to tender wind projects.
