Orsted returned to a net profit in the second quarter of 2021 as a gain from the sale of half of a large Dutch offshore wind farm compensated for lower-than-usual winds in its core northern European operation area.

Revenue rose by 17% to DKr13.55bn ($2.14bn) in the quarter, from the second quarter last year, while earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation (Ebitda) jumped 177% to DKr8.2bn. The Danish utility posted a net profit of DKr5.54bn in the second quarter of 2021, compared to a net loss of DKr825m in the year-earlier period.
