Danish offshore wind pacesetter Orsted has handed in a bid to authorities in the US state of Maryland to develop a follow-on project to its 120MW Skipjack that would enlarge the development capacity six-fold.

The proposal for Skipjack 2, envisaged as a 760MW array located 19.5 miles (31.4km) off the coast of Delaware, comes in response to Maryland Public Service Commission’s second round of offshore wind awards.

“Orsted is privileged to already be a long-term partner to the state of Maryland as it works to meet its offshore wind goals,” said Orsted Offshore North America CEO David Hardy.
