The European Marine Energy Centre (EMEC) has called on the UK to back a dedicated test centre to help prove floating wind technologies at a Scottish location it says offers a wider and more relevant spectrum of metocean conditions than current European test sites.
A white paper produced jointly with consultancy firm Renewable Risk Advisory drew on a comparative analysis of five-year average wind and wave data and 100-year storm event conditions at proposed or existing European sites.
