The drop in grid-connection activity was expected and is caused primarily by the transition from the RO to the CfD support scheme in the UK. The second half of 2016 will still be more or less at the same level. The drop in build-out, however, will be temporary and growth will pick up again in 2017, with an expected 2.6GW

The European offshore wind market saw a dip in grid-connections in the first half of 2016. After a record-year in 2015 with 3.3GW of new capacity feeding into the grids, a modest 525MW was connected in the first six months of 2016.
