Siemens plans to build the first wind turbine blade factory in the province specifically to meet demand from a 600MW supply agreement with Samsung C&T and Pattern Energy. Under the deal, Siemens will supply and install complete turbine systems at projects in southern Ontario, beginning in 2012.

Siemens expects to employ up to 300 people at its blade factory associated with the Samsung and Pattern development plans, Bill Smith, senior vice-president of energy for Siemens Canada, tells Recharge.
