Global Wind Service (GWS) promoted Michael Høj Olsen to its CEO role to replace Lars Petersen, a co-founder of the service and installation specialist.

Olsen steps up from his current role as GWS chief commercial officer – the job Petersen will take on under the new set-up, which the Danish company said would help it “take the next step” in the market.

Olsen worked for Vestas for four years before he joined GWS in 2014.

Petersen, who helped establish the company in 2008, said: “At heart, I’m an entrepreneur and GWS needs a new and different set of competencies to take us further on our journey. I remain fully committed to GWS and have great ambitions on behalf of the company.”

GWS employs more than 850 people and supplies technicians to 40 markets including Germany, the US and Australia.
