Oklahoma's PSO to seek more wind resource later this year

Utility Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO) expects to seek an additional 100MW or so of additional wind generation resource later this year through a request for proposal process, Recharge has learned.

Tulsa-based PSO has not yet issued the RFP. Plans call for continuing to contract wind power through long-term off-take agreements with developers in the state.

In March, PSO had 1.137GW of wind under contract from eight different facilities in western Oklahoma. This includes three contracts totaling 600MW that went into effect at the beginning of this year.

Wind under contract is now close to 20% of the utility’s total energy resource.
