Oil giant Total added to its growing renewable energy stable with the acquisition of French developer Vents d’Oc.

The French supermajor bought Vents d’Oc, which is developing about 200MW, mainly in onshore wind, via its existing Quadran renewable generation subsidiary, which now has a clean energy portfolio of 830MW, said Total.

Quadran itself is set to change its name to Total Quadran from 1 September.

Philippe Sauquet, general manager of Total’s Gas, Renewables and Power business, said the acquisition is “part of the Group's growth strategy for the entire low-carbon electricity value chain in France”.
