Shell has joined the race to build offshore wind farms in Poland, the oil & gas supermajor confirmed.

Shell said Amber Baltic Wind, a wholly owned subsidiary “has submitted proposals for new offshore wind locations in the Polish Baltic Sea zone as part of the latest government tender”.

The UK-based hydrocarbons giant has also signed up to the ‘sector deal’ drawn up between the offshore wind industry and the Polish government, which wants significant industrial employment and local content benefits to come with its push for 11GW of wind at sea by 2040.
