Odfjell Drilling aims to diversify into operation of floating offshore wind turbines as the Oslo-listed rig contractor has decided to scrap a veteran unit amid a market downturn due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

The company has decided to make an unspecified investment in Norwegian compatriot start-up Oceanwind that is looking to own and operate floating wind turbines.

"Odfjell Drilling has the intention to hold a controlling position in Oceanwind subject to successful completion of the upcoming equity tranches.
