The decision – first flagged up by the managing director of WPD Offshore in comments to Recharge in March – encompasses an increase on the 415MW capacity originally proposed.
WPD's revised plans would see it install 83 7MW turbines at the North Sea site 120km north of the island of Borkum at a water depth of about 40 metres.
The developer has not disclosed which turbine supplier it plans to work with.
