A robot insect’s first walk along a turbine blade was hailed as “offshore wind’s moon walk” that has the potential to slash costs of power from wind at sea.

The BladeBUG blade-inspection and repair robot walked 50-metres along a vertical blade at the Levenmouth test turbine in Scotland, using its vacuum-padded feet to look for cracks in a process currently carried out by technicians on ropes.
