The state and renewables groups have signed an ‘Offshore Wind Pact’ that cements a much faster build-up of wind at sea in France, confirming a recent announcement by President Emmanuel Macron, while the government also has launched the tender for two utility-scale floating wind projects in the Mediterranean.

As part of the offshore wind pact, the government set a target of 20GW of allocated capacity in 2030 in order to reach a capacity in service of 18GW by 2035, and of 40GW by 2050.
