Global offshore wind group Ocean Winds is stepping up its plans in South Korea with fresh investment in a 1.2GW project there, said government officials in Seoul.

Ocean Winds – a joint venture between renewables developers EDPR and Engie – will invest an initial $100m in the project, said a statement from South Korea’s energy ministry that gave no more details of whether the plan involved floating or fixed-foundation developments, which are both planned at large scale off its coasts.
