Global offshore wind player Ocean Winds and Irish energy group Bord na Móna have linked for an offshore wind joint venture to advance 2.3GW of projects off Ireland.

Ocean Winds – itself a JV between global power giants Engie and EDPR – and part state-owned Bord na Móna will initially focus their joint activity on two bottom-fixed projects, the 1.6GW Réalt na Mara off the coast of Dublin and 700MW Celtic Horizon, off Wexford and Waterford.

Irish energy minister Leo Varadkar said the partnership with Ocean Winds marks “marks a new chapter in Bord na Móna’s 90-year history in supplying energy to local communities across the island.
