The industry wants to have the flagship project up and running before 2020, and the cross-party energy and environment committee will recommend today that "parliament requests that the government provide support for a demonstration project for floating offshore wind and other forms of offshore renewable technology no later than in 2017".
The Norwegian wind energy association (Norwea) wrote to the committee recently, showcasing offshore wind's potential, scoped out as a 60GW market between 2025 and 2040 calculated to be worth €6.45bn
