Vermont-based turbine maker NPS will initially supply turbines to local wind developer Heritage Sustainable Energy, which has signed several wind-based power purchase agreements with Consumers Energy.
The news is significant for the embattled state, which has a long tradition of industrial production as the historic centre of the US automobile industry, but now suffers from the second highest rate of unemployment in the country.
