The 250kW turbine, supplied by France's Vergnet and installed on a farm in County Antrim, began flowing electricity into the grid this week after an opening ceremony attended by Northern Ireland’s environment minister Alex Attwood.
Earlier this year Simple Power penned a multi-year deal with Vergnet for 200 of its two-bladed turbines, which range in size from 225kW to 1MW.
Simple Power claims to be the largest player in Northern Ireland focused on mid-sized wind installations, a segment given a huge boost several years ago when Belfast quadrupled support for wind farms under 250kW, offering them four Renewable Obligation Certificates per MWh.
