Wind turbine OEM Nordex at the end of June has received a second order in the US for its Delta4000 series turbines in the 4MW-plus class.

The 38 N149/4.0-4.5 turbines will be installed at a Texas wind farm that has a proposed energy generating capacity of approximately 180MW. Delivery is scheduled for the summer of 2020.

With the expiry of the production tax credit (PTC) in the US, developers are increasingly opting for larger onshore wind turbines in the 4MW-class, even at sites that are not land constrained in less densely populated states such as Texas that previously installed smaller machines on a massive scale.

The order includes supply and delivery of the machines with an operation range of 4.8MW.

The order comes with a 5-year service agreement.
