Wind turbine OEM Nordex has received an order to supply and install 40 of its Acciona Windpower brand AW132/3300 and two of its AW132/3000 turbines with a combined capacity 138MW from a client in Mexico.

The project in the north-eastern state of Tamaulipas includes a two-year service contract and will start construction in the spring of next year.

The turbines with a hub height of 120 meters will be installed on concrete towers manufactured locally by Nordex at its Mexican manufacturing plant in Marín, in the state of Nuevo León.

The German-Spanish manufacturer has announced the order after the Mexican renewable energy sector earlier this month had an early court victory against retroactive changes to the country’s Clean Energy Certificate (CEL) scheme.

Close to the wind farm in Tamaulipas, Nordex had already supplied an 180MW wind farm last year with its AW125/3000 machines.
